National Pride (27/05/2015)

Our main concern

Our main concern was the conceptual clarification of the concept “National Pride”
For this reason we chose to present a short video in order to help us understand what “National pride” means,

Given the fact that we are happy to be Greek -hopefully we convince you for being happy and not proud-, we decided to focus on the Greek language.
From our students’ research came out that there are some words in the Greek language that cannot be translated into any other language, such as the word Philotimo. We prepared a video explaining what the word “ Philotimo” means
.
.
Additionally there is a vast majority of Greek words widely used in science, political life, literature and of course in everyday life. This fact is remarkably represented in the speech we’ve just handed out. It’s a speech of a well known Greek economist and former Prime Minister given to a foreign audience like you today. We challenge you – in a form of a workshop to find words that are not Greek with the exception of articles and prepositions. You realize that every single word is coming out from the Greek vocabulary

Finally, in a short video, we present some Greek words, widely used all over the world, having the initial meaning in Greek language with similar or different pronunciation.
